Dr. Hirsch was an excellent mentor, but an even better friend. Alan cared more about the person that I would become than the provider I would become. What a shocking loss to so many of us in Alan's extended vascular medicine "family." He was a mentor and motivator to so many of us. His teaching about vascular disease was described as rabbinical in nature.. and it was so very true.
