Dr. Hirsch was an excellent mentor, but an even better friend. Alan cared more about the person that I would become than the provider I would become. In the years we worked together, He pushed me to expect more, reach higher, and serve with passion. He would sing and laugh and make us feel that it wasn't unprofessional to be joyful at work. He inspired me to study hard and share what I've learned. He was a great leader in the field of Vascular Medicine. I believe he answered his calling and was created "for such a time as this." My deepest condolences to his precious daughter Rebecca Neiman and his beloved son Jonathan Hirsch and his Loved Ones. Dr. Alan T. Hirsch has completely poured out himself to service here on this Earth. He has fully emptied himself of his life's purpose here on Earth and transitioned into Eternity. Shalom be unto you all!

What a shocking loss to so many of us in Alan's extended vascular medicine "family." He was a mentor and motivator to so many of us. His teaching about vascular disease was described as rabbinical in nature.. and it was so very true. He was so very passionate about his work, his patients, and inspiring the next generation to carry on with a passion for improving vascular health. He had a huge impact on so many patient's lives. Just Tuesday evening he was texting me with ideas and suggestions for our Society's annual meeting. I am so profoundly sorry for your loss.
